Aims

To apply design principles based on the five urban design qualities learnt in previous sessions to design projects in an urban environment.

Objectives

To demonstrate an understanding of urban design principles in a practical situation through creating built form on a selected urban site.

To communicate urban design ideas in visual form, and present them to an audience.

Student learning & output

Students use the street collage exercise to express urban design ideas.

Students create design solutions for stated problems by manipulating building blocks on a chosen site, using urban design principles.

Through understanding and applying design principles, students are able to comprehend what makes better places.
