3D modelling
video description.
This video shows a 3D modelling exercise being undertaken
in a typical class. The video is 2 minutes and 38 seconds
long.
Students are sitting around tables in groups of four or
five. There is general background noise of students speaking
to one another. A teacher is shown handing out a base map
to each group of students. The base map is a plan of an
example site.
A group of students are shown placing wooden blocks, representing
buildings, on to the base map.
A second group of students are shown placing wooden blocks
on to the base map.
A teacher is working with one particular group of students.
He points at the map and says: "You can see where the
car park and the church is." The teacher moves towards
two photographs of streets from the site, which are being
projected on to the classroom white board. He points at
one of the photographs and says: "That is the intersection
and that is looking down that particular road."
A group of students are shown using the wooden blocks to
construct groups of buildings on their base maps.
A different group of students are discussing the features
marked on their base map with a teacher. They agree that
they can demolish a disused factory if necessary when creating
their new design.
A teacher is shown working with another group of students.
The teacher points at a street marked on the far left of
the map and another street marked on the far right of the
map. They discuss what features they can design to link
the two areas together.
Two groups of students are shown marking road connections
on their base maps and placing wooden blocks alongside the
streets to indicate where they would build houses.
A teacher ends the session by thanking the students for
their completed designs and saying that the designs have
been reviewed. The winning design can be seen on a table
surrounded by the group who have created it. The class applaud
the winning group of students.
End.
